Tito's Bell — Vintage 16" x 20" hand-printed darkroom print
For anyone who has loved a bird, you know what it's like to lose them. After our cockatiel Tito died, I kept all his things for a very long time. He loved this bell most of all, and it is one of a set of memento mori pictures I made from his things a few years after his death.
Vintage hand-printed 16x20" darkroom print. Like other color darkroom prints I made, this one dates from the 2005-2009 period, when I had access to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill color darkroom. Alas, like so many color darkrooms, the UNC-CH one is no more. They are tricky things to keep going, what with the servicing of the machines and the continual challenges of keeping the chemistry fresh, which is why they were normally found in institutional settings. A humming color darkroom is a thing of beauty and something I dearly miss. General information about the prints is also available at the About link.
